Kentucky Contest Group – An Introduction

The Kentucky Contest Group (KCG) was formed in 1991 to further the interest of ham radio operators in contesting. Many ham radio operators world-wide have discovered the thrill of contest-style operating — there’s nothing quite like it! The unique challenges of individual and team competition offer rewards unavailable elsewhere. Like many hams, contesters find that contributing to a team effort brings a lot of fun and satisfaction to the game. We ask you to consider joining your fellow contest operators in the KCG.

To qualify as a KCG member, we ask members operate at least one contest per calendar year and submit your logs for credit to the KCG. We’ll show you how to do this. Of course, most KCG members operate several contests per year, but it only takes one operation to qualify for membership.

Currently, there are no annual dues. All members have access to the KCG email reflector and/or the Facebook site. There are no meeting requirements. We do have “get togethers” at various hamfest and announce those each year, but due to COVID, those are currently suspended.

The KCG e-mail reflector and Facebook site are where we share tips, report scores, tell stories, and discuss all of the fun, challenge and drama of radio sporting. It is also where we ask questions and share answers. The KCG membership represents a vast knowledge base, with people highly skilled in a number of disciplines. Join the KCG today and learn from some of the best!
